PONTI: Sharlene Teo
PONTI
by Sharlene Teo
From the first page, this fantastic debut novel drew me in, mesmerising me with its potent imagery. The story spans fifty years, tracing the strange and entangled relationships between three women: misfit teen Szu, her cruel childhood friend Circe, and Szu'spreternaturally beautiful mother Amisa. With it's lush descriptions of steamy Singapore, the city state is almost a character in it's own right, lending the novel a sultry atmosphere that perfectly backgrounds the psychological drama.
