BURNT SUGAR: Avni Doshi

BURNT SUGAR

by Avni Doshi

The relationship between a mother and daughter can be a complex thing. In this book, the bond between Antara and her mother Tara is fraught one. But now their roles have reversed. The mother, once all powerful and reckless, has dementia. The daughter, an artist, has to reckon with her childhood wounds as she witnesses her mother's decline. Tender, unflinching and so incredibly well written, this is a stunning read.
