The Hunter is a mood of a novel. It's a hot Irish summer and in the country there's no shade, just the crackle of dry grass under foot. The summer also brings trouble, and an absent father returns with a scheme and lofty promises. Tana French always builds her characters slowly so you feel like you are in the room with them, falling in love or making mistakes alongside them. A great read.
