When I was a child I reread this book so many times my mum had to buy me another copy when the pages fell out from between the covers. Gentle Fern, loveable Wilbur, his devoted friend Charlotte the spider, even Templeton the rat; they all seemed more like extended family than made up characters. Tender and wise, like Charlotte herself, this little book is all about life's coming and goings, love and friendship. I still read this regularly, and my heart still swells up every single time.
