CLASSICS BOOK CLUB: MADAME BOVARY

Welcome to our Classics Book Club, where we eschew the latest bestsellers to celebrate books that have stood the test of time! Join your fellow bibliophiles as we read or reread classic works of literature together and discuss great books from throughout the ages.

We will be embracing a broad definition of the term classic, revisiting old favourites as well as discovering overlooked gems, translated masterpieces, mid-century moderns and those canonical texts you didn’t get around to at school.

This September we’ll be inaugurating the Classics Club with Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. Written in 1857, Flaubert’s beguiling masterpiece tells the story of Emma Bovary and her doomed efforts to escape the banalities of domesticity through the pursuit of romantic reveries.
