CLASSICS BOOK CLUB
Welcome to our Classics Book Club, where we eschew the latest bestsellers to celebrate books that have stood the test of time! Join your fellow bibliophiles as we read or reread classic works of literature together and discuss great books from throughout the ages.
We will be embracing a broad definition of the term classic, revisiting old favourites as well as discovering overlooked gems, translated masterpieces, mid-century moderns and those canonical texts you didn’t get around to at school.
THIS MONTH
In April the book club will be reading As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner. A Southern Gothic masterpiece, As I Lay Dying follows the journey of a poor rural family as they strive to honour their dying matriarch’s final wish to be buried in her Mississippi hometown. Narrated by 15 different characters over 59 chapters, this stream-of-conciousness novel is often considered to be one of the greatest books of the 20th Century.
