COMMONWEALTH: Ann Patchett

COMMONWEALTH

by Ann Patchett

What a great read! Commonwealth is one of those rare books that hits the sweet spot between ‘great literature’ and compulsive readability. It’s the perfect book for a lazy summer afternoon to yourself. One hot Californian afternoon in 1964, Bert Cousins – uninvited and carrying a bottle of gin – walks into baby Franny Keating’s christening party and sets in motion a chain of events which will forever bind the two families. Ann Patchetthas written a saga of family relationships that is simultaneously profound and somehow light and breezy. Brilliant!
