NOTHING SPECIAL: Nicole Flattery
NOTHING SPECIAL
by Nicole Flattery
My heart raced while reading this debut novel. Not because it's salacious, but because it brought me so fully into the mind of a character whose pace and intensity of thought casts an intoxicating, sometimes discomforting, spell. The humour is dry, the bite palpable. This young narrator's journey from ratty teen to Andy Warhol typist is perfect for the Venn diagram overlap of fans who like both Sally Rooney and Ottessa Moshfegh.
