Don’t worry about drinking the kool-aid, this book lives up to the praise it is getting. Based on the story of Jim Jones, cult leader of the Peoples Temple, it follows the events that lead to the Jonestown massacre in 1978. What Woollett really does well is dip into the lives and minds of the people who were seduced into the cult, making her characters all too real and their motivations feel very human.
